FINALLY WE ARE HEADED SOUTH

We get a late start to this years cruising season, but other than the cooler than normal weather and lots of Red Tide, we had a good season. We sailed no further south than Las Hades this year with the late start south from Banderas Bay . Anchored in Barra, Tennicatita, Bahia de Carrizales, Santiago bay, and Las Hades. We made many new friends and reunited with old ones.

Bara de Navidad

APRIL 2022
We had a nice visit from Sean in April, He flew into Manzanillo and spent a couple weeks hanging out with us before we head into the marina for the summer. We anchored in Tennicatita for a few days. Enabling us to cruise up the estuary to visit Pancho at the Distillery. Seans request. Always a great day, running the dinghy up the river to have lunch and Raicella, the Mezcal from the region. From Tennicatita we sail down to Las Hades with a stop in the remote anchorage , Bahia de Carrizales. One of the only completely isolated anchorages in this part of the coast. Many times we are the only boat in the bay. After a hike we hung out in a makeshift palapa on the beach having a beer and chatting. Thats when we had a visit from a family of mule deer. Thats a first for us in Mexico. They came down to the beach to graze but were more interested in checking us out. From there we motored down to Las Hades, about 5 miles south of Carrizalles. The red tide was so bad at times we had to go out to find clear enough water to run the water maker and not clog filters. From Las Hades we made a short road trip to the outdoor market in Manzanillo to provision. A huge selection of everything you could imagine. Sean flew back to the states to start his Job in Washington state as a wild land firefighter and we will start our way north to put Namahana in Paradise Village Marina for hurricane season.

MAY 2022
We sailed north to Barra and spent a couple weeks enjoying the marina and town, as well as “repairing” our loose windlass motor. Something I had to retighten after every anchorage on the way to Bandaras Bay. Also the impeller on the main engine decided to stop impelling. My spare impeller was the wrong size so we sail, we are a sailboat right !
