Back To Paradise For The Summer

IMG_3806We spent the month of May in and around Barra De Navidad Marina. Taking advantage of the “summer”marina rates, less than half the high season slip rates. The month of May this year has been unusually mild weather wise with  highs in the low 80’s and the nights cooling down to a very comfortable high 60’s. Perfect for accomplishing boat projects. We have made many new friends so its easy to get distracted from varnishing, polishing etc. Let me see, work on projects or sit by the pool enjoying a cold one. We managed to complete a few projects. Learned to play “Mexican train”. A fun dominoes game. Found more restaurants, many with great music. We seem to discover some thing new every day here in Barra, as well as throughout our Mexican adventure. A new chicken rotisserie, an awesome carniceria “meat market”, a distillery with samples ! The French Baker who pulls up in his panga daily with bread, pastries, and croissants. It would be hard to leave Barra except we will be going to Paradise Village Resort Marina to wait out the summer hurricane season. A full service marina in Nuevo Vallarta, Paradise is situated on the edge of an estuary full of Iguanas, Crocodiles and dozens of species of birds. The resort itself is full of “distractions” from the daily chores of boat life in the tropical environment of Vallarta. Marina tenants have full access to the resort property. Pools, Jacuzzi a full gym along with easy access to laundry facilities in an air conditioned mall. Many inexpensive places to eat as well as some very nice” not so cheap” Dinner Houses on the property. It is much different from the sleepy villages we spend most of the winter anchored by.  Bucerais and La Cruz are a short bus ride west and Puerto Vallarta with its night life scene is a 200 peso ($10) Taxi or Uber ride to the south. We plan on doing some land traveling this summer, Tequila, Copper canyon, Guadalahara etc. The Vallarta international airport is 15 min away as well the bus station with Luxury Buses that rival any first class seating and service available from any airline for a fraction of the cost.  We are back in the states the last 2 weeks of June and will be staying mostly in the South Bay. We look forward to visiting our family and friends. Then return to Paradise to continue finding “distractions” from the daily chores aboard The Namahana. Cheers !
